Designer Chanel Kennebrew of Junkprints shares the secret to making her awesome wallets!
This wallet is the perfect gift for yourself, your sister, your boyfriend or your girlfriend. Here, Chanel has used denim, which she stresses can be recycled. If denim is not your thing, choose another durable fabric that can stand a lot of wear and tear.

Cut two pieces of thin denim fabric, one 9 x 11"; the other 5.5 x 11". Measure 1/2" on all sides and fold.
Use an iron to score the folds. On the larger piece of fabric, score a fold approximately 3.5" in from the left side (this will become the inner pockets of the wallet)

Place the smaller piece on top of the larger piece and align with the crease as shown. Pin these pieces together.

Sew the two pieces together (Chanel recommends sewing it two or three times for a finished look unless you have a serger sewing machine that can sew a seam, finish the edges and trim off the excess). When sewing over the creased edges, you can add ribbon or trim if you like.

To create the wallet folds, flip the sewn wallet over and fold into thirds. Using a white colored pencil, mark at the top and bottom of each fold. Then use a ruler to connect the dots. Sew along the white guides.

Follow these easy steps to create your own Superfly Wallet. Add your own images, prints and fabrics to make it your own!

Gather the artwork you wish to use and make photocopies to use on the wallet (Both Chanel and The Chick's Guide caution against using original images because they are absolutely unforgiving of mistakes). Whether you are using a single image or collaging images together, the result should be 4 x 9" to fit the wallet. Also cut a piece of clear vinyl and white tissue paper the same size.

Align the graphic to orient toward the wallet as pictured below. Align the vinyl and tissue paper on top of the graphic and pin everything together. Sew along the perimerter about 1 cm from the edge of the denim. Use your fingers to carefully remove the tissue paper (the layer of tissue paper makes it easier to sew the vinyl).

To create the closure, cut Velcro® into a 3.5" strip. Separate the strips and align on the wallet so that the two strips match up when the wallet is folded shut.
Sew up the outside edges, adding a small fabric tab from any scrap fabric if you wish.
