Serene Pendant

You can make your own version of Margot Potter's beautiful pendant necklace.

Step 1

beads

Place the beads on a flat surface in the desired order. The pattern for this necklace is as follows: crystal, silver spacer, pearl, spacer, flower, crystal, spacer, pearl, spacer, flower. Set aside.

Step 2

To create the pendant, center image on slide and trace around slide with a pen. Cut out image, working the scissors just inside of the outline. Write “bliss” on right side of image with pen and further accent as desired. Allow to dry.

Step 3

Sandwich image between two glass slides and place inside of frame. Secure frame closed. Attach one end of clasp to wire using pliers. Work tool along smooth ends of clasp, compressing as you work until wire is secured inside of tube. Cut off excess wire with flush cutters.

Step 4

stringing beads

String beads on design, working from your bead board until you reach the center of the design which is the eighth flower. Attach the pendant to the wire with the jump ring. Continue adding beads until you reach the final crystal.

Step 5

ez crimp

Slide wire into EZ Crimp® end. Use chain nose pliers to pull wire so beads are flush to the crimp end. Attach the clasp so the design is rounded. Adjust the wire so the design is not too stiff, to allow room for play between the beads and to prevent breakage. Finish crimp end as before, compressing until wire is secured. Clip off excess wire with flush cutters.

Open jump ring to slide on three crystals, flower and three more crystals. Close jump ring with pliers by moving ends toward each other, passed one another and back together; apply pressure so that they click into place without leaving any space.

    Coiled Dangles

    making coilded dangles

To make coiled dangles, slide bead on head pin. Grasp top of head pin with round nose pliers. Bend wire at a 90-degree angle away from you. Grasp wire between thumb and forefinger and bend it over pliers end, looping it under and away from you. Use chain nose pliers to grasp wire end and wrap it tightly around, working from bottom of loop to top of bead. Cut off excess wire with flush cutters.
