This kitty cap tops off a purrfect costume or stands alone as a fun warm winter hat.

Sharine altered a bra and created a mini skirt with tail in matching fur and trim to complete this costume.

Furry boot covers are a perfect add-on. Click here for instructions.

Use this pattern as a guide for your own hat project.
• Fur fabric (1/2 yard)
• A small amount of any type of fabric for the inside of the ears (Sharine used pink spandex)
• Fabric shears
• Shears
• Straight pins
• Sewing Machine
Measure the circumference of your head at your temples and add 1". Using the pattern shown, draw a dome with a bottom that is half the length of your head measurement plus 1" (for example, if your head is 10" around, your final dome measurement would be 5.5"). Cut enough fabric into triangles to create two ears—two triangles from the fur and two from the other fabric of your choice (note: by rounding the ears, you can make a teddy bear hat instead).
Sew the ears first. Pin the fur triangle to the fabric triangle so that the wrong side of both pieces faces out. Use a sewing machine to sew the top two edges only. Once sewn, flip the fabric so that the ears are right-side-out (optional: stuff the ears with a little batting to make them firmer).
Take one of the previously cut fur domes and lay right-side-up on a flat surface. Position ears in desired location and lay them on top of the fur dome so that they point down. Take the other fur dome and position on top, wrong-side-up. Now pin everything together (just the top part of the dome, the bottom is the hat opening). Sew along the seam. When finished, flip right-side-out and Meeeeeow!
If you want to go the extra mile and make the entire costume, simply cut fur fabric to cover a bra or bikini top (use the bra or top as a pattern), pin the fabric to the bra/top and sew. For the skirt, use your favorite mini skirt as a pattern to create it. Boot covers were made according to the instructions listed under our baaad girl project. Click here to view them.
