Sexy "Dare Ya" Garter

Hey there, kitty cat, you daring me? You tempting me? You bet! Garters are a super sexy accessory for any chick’s leg. And this one says, “ga head, try me.”

Garters were originally designed to cover the top edge of thigh-high nylons, but you don’t necessarily need the thigh highs and garter belt to wear one.

Try them under a free-flowing skirt or even to spice up a mini skirt. Let it peek out under a longer skirt while you discreetly smooth your stockings in the peripheral vision of that certain someone whose attention you crave. Meow.

Make Your Own Garter

Artist Kerry Arquette pulled this project from her Thigh Candy line to share with us. The instructions are very simple and the supply list minimal, so this project goes long on sexy and short on costs.

Step 1

Measure around your thigh at the point at which the finished garter will be worn.

Step 2

Measure and cut a length of decorative beaded trim (used most frequently for embellishing curtains) that is twice as long as the measurement of your thigh.

Step 3

Cut a piece of decorative ribbon (Kerry used ribbon that is 1.5" wide) that is twice as long as the measurement of your thigh.

Step 4

Machine stitch the top of the beaded trim to the bottom of the decorative ribbon.

Step 5

Cut a piece of casing the same length as the ribbon.

Step 6

Center the casing down the middle of the backside of the ribbon. Stitch close to the top and bottom edges of the casing along the entire length of the ribbon. This will create a channel for the elastic.

Step 7

Cut a piece of elastic that is three-quarters as long as the measurement of your thigh. When selecting your elastic, make sure that it will slide through the stitched casing channel.

Step 8

Attach a safety pin to the end of the elastic and use the pin to pull the elastic through the casing channel. Make sure the opposite end of the elastic doesn’t slip into the casing channel.

Step 9

Turn the garter inside out. Match up the two raw edges. Sew them together.

Step 10

Cover a large button form with black fabric (metal button forms are available in fabric and craft stores). Decorate the button with glittery letter stickers. Hand stitch the button to the garter.
